A national action plan in the fight against terrorism was brought-up-to date by the Slovak government in 2006. As a part of this plan was the erection of a multifunctional training complex, which was to be executed by the selected Czech joint-stock company Ledic. The project is called JAKUB VILLAGE and Ledic, a. s. (joint-stock company) is its general designer and executor. The Company used its long-term experience with developing training complexes and simulators, including a range of patent protected solutions, when planning this training complex. The Company is cooperating with five Slovak subcontractors. The planning concept of the entire complex, whose build was divided into two stages so far with a possible enlargement, is based on the current needs of the country’s armed and rescue branches. Unlike the common practice, where every department develops their own specific training grounds, in this case the Slovak government chose the concept of a multifunctional, department-exceeding training facility in the style of a country village. After its completion, this facility will provide for the training of up to 800 members of armed and rescue branches at one time, including the practice in command and coordination activities among the whole range of expertise. At the same time, this will create excellent opportunities for training of highly expert special force units of the army, police or customs. Those premises that had been completed in record-low time during the first stage of the complex’s development were handed over at the end of 2007. Currently ongoing are the preliminary works for commencement of the second stage of the development. The JAKUB VILLAGE facility is a modern multifunctional purpose-build model of a settlement designed for training individuals, units, and groups in combat, antiterrorist, peace making, and rescue situations. To provide the training objective, the facility has to evoke an impression of a real settlement including its activities. Further required is the possibility to use real ammunition when using some types of hand-carried weapons and the use of hand-grenades in selected buildings. Among the requirements is also stated the simulation of light, acoustic, and smoke effects as in real situations, clear monitoring of the training within the village and its immediate surroundings. |
